Welcome to a special edition of 'The Loop', focusing on Alliance activities at the forthcoming XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City from 3–8 August.
At the conference, the Alliance will be hosting and participating in a wide range of events – with a particular focus on the importance of communities in the HIV response and in |
achieving universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support.
We will be sharing learning from working in concentrated epidemics in Latin America and the Caribbean (as well as other regions). We will also be sharing our experiences of working with key populations at higher risk, and the importance of their involvement and leadership in reaching those who are most vulnerable and marginalised.

Latin America and Caribbean case studies The Alliance has produced a series of case studies in Spanish and English about the Alliance’s work in Latin America and the Caribbean. The case studies cover a wide range of topics including how stigmatized groups are working together to reduce the impact of HIV; an education project that is being integrated into the state education system; and the ‘Condomobile’ – which aims to address the lack of information and prevention services available to communities in remote areas. Read the case studies and find out more about our work in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Red ribbon awards This year, five of the 25 Red Ribbon Award winners are Alliance partners. The awards celebrate outstanding community leadership and action on AIDS. Representatives from all of the winning organisations will attend the International AIDS Conference in Mexico, where five of the winners will receive further special recognition for their work. We wish all of the Alliance partners – indeed all of the winners – the very best of luck! |
