26 June 2007

The Alliance’s work tackling HIV in Zambia was highly commended in the international aid and development category of the 2007 Charity Awards, announced on 21 June.
The awards “shine a spotlight on exceptional performance in the leadership and management of charities, helping to spread best practice and draw attention to the breadth of talent, commitment and expertise that exists within UK charities.”
Alliance Zambia’s ACER (Antiretroviral treatment, Community Education and Referral) project works to create a community environment that encourages HIV testing and treatment by providing information and strengthening links between health service providers and the community. “Congratulations to all concerned in the ACER project in particular, and to the Zambia Country Staff in general, who have enabled this important work to continue,” said Jackie Reeve, Alliance Programme Officer for Zambia, who attended the award ceremony. “The ACER programme has been going from strength to strength, and we are all very happy and proud that this work and the project team’s efforts have been recognised in this way.”
