Miguel’s story
“I’m Miguel Antonio Recalde Vélez. I’m 28 years old. I live in Valencia, a district of Quevedo. I’m gay. I have been gay all my life. For a time I studied gastronomy and then I became a stylist.
Four years ago I discovered a gay group that was forming an organisation to work in HIV prevention. I enjoyed helping and I became part of the group, where I later took on responsibility for the discussion groups. I share all my free time with them and we are one big family.
I’m also involved with a youth group that is working against child abuse. We are organising various activities to raise funds and achieve our goals. I wish to become a great social communicator and give the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and transsexual communities a voice that is respected within society and the world. I love my life and my work and I hope in the future that all my desires are fulfilled.”
