Sharing experiences of projects for men who have sex with men in North Africa and Lebanon
15 December 2006
At the start of November, together with partners in North Africa and Lebanon, the Alliance organised a regional five-day workshop for partners to share their experiences implementing projects for men who have sex with men.
A report of the workshop is now available in French. It describes the strategies, successes and challenges faced by the Alliance’s regional partners in implementing their projects for men who have sex with men. It also outlines the meeting’s discussions on best practices to guide focused prevention interventions for men who have sex with men in the region. These include peer education, STI/HIV testing and treatment referrals, the development of STI/HIV prevention-focused materials as well as condoms and lubricant procurement and distribution.
The report also briefly presents how each country integrated the lessons learned into their projects plans and the regional strategies identified by the participants to improve STI/HIV prevention work for men who have sex with men in the region.
The report will primarily be used by the partner organisations involved in the regional programme but may also be of interest for regional stakeholders and other organisations interested in implementing prevention interventions aimed at men who have sex with men.
