Website feedback highlights www.aidsalliance.org as a key HIV/AIDS resource
29 November 2005
More than four out of five people responding to an evaluation of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance’s website agreed or strongly agreed that the site is a key source of knowledge and expertise on community responses to HIV/AIDS. The results of the survey are strong evidence that the re-launch of the website earlier in 2005 has been a success.
Over 40% of respondents access the site weekly or daily, and nearly half regularly or very often refer work colleagues or others involved in HIV/AIDS action to the site. More than four in five also found it easy or very easy to find what they wanted on the site.
Simon Moore, head of communications at the Alliance said: “The results are really encouraging for the communications work of the Alliance. We were aiming to make www.aidsalliance.org a reference site for community action on AIDS in developing countries, and all the signs are that we are succeeding.
“One of the key aims of the Alliance is to build the capacity, knowledge and skills of local and national groups so they can respond more effectively to the epidemic. With thousands of publications downloaded each month from the resource centre on www.aidsalliance.org, and visitor figures increasing month on month, the site is making a difference.”
A summary of the results from the evaluation is available on the Alliance website and will be used to direct further development of the site which is planned over the next few months.
Around 330 people responded to the full English language survey, with another 40 people responding to shorter surveys in French, Spanish and Portuguese.
